When I was a kid, I constantly heard people saying that I should try and consume fish often, because “it would make me intelligent!”
Wee, I decided to listen to her, so I ate a lot of fish and it seems that there is some truth in that claim – eating fish IS excellent for you and you health! However, the important thing that you should know is that the type and quality of the fish you consume is essential.
So, to be clear you are not going to become a super intelligent genius person if you start eating fish excessively… BUT, the fatty omega acids that the fish is consisted of produces for your brain and body a boost.
There is a CATCH (You understand… “catch” – pun very well intended).
However, all stupid jokes aside, NOT all fish are able to boost and improve your health. Some of them are harmful to be eaten.
Tilapia is on number one place of harmful fish that we are not supposed to eat. If we talk about its nutritional level, tilapia cannot compare with any other regular fish that you would like to eat at all.
WHAT Is Tilapia?
A white fish, mild in taste
Very easy to cook – without bones and skin
Extremely cheap to breed (actually that is the main reason that makes it popular among people, its low price)
What Is The PROBLEM?
The main problem with eating tilapia is that most of the fish grown in unnatural conditions, most of them come from factory farms.
In the wild, tilapia eat plants and algae, while factory farm produced tilapia eat artificial stuff. If that isn’t sounding awful and scary to you, listen to this, the farms ALSO use a huge amount of chemicals when they want to breed and keep the fish alive!
You are not what YOU eat. A more appropriate statement would be… You are what your FOOD eats.
What does it mean?
Whenever you eat the fish the dangerous substances from farm factory tilapia happen to end in you!
Eating farm-bred tilapia is capable of producing numerous harmful and negative effects to your body, for example:
- Coronary disease
- Joint inflammation
TAKE NOTE: In order to be safe, always check the source of where your food is coming from, because the factory fish is not the best option!
The best thing to do is to steer clear from bred tilapia produced in the factory farms in order to avoid its possible damaging and negative effects.

- Wild Alaska Salmon (particularly sockeye)
- Black cod (sablefish)
